Improving as an actor with each work, Park Yuchun.
Due to his excellent acting in ‘Rooftop Prince’ as a man from 2 different eras, Park Yuchun received Best Actor Award at the 2012 Korean drama awards. For this work, which part did he put in a lot of effort?
“Acting as 2 different characters, to make each character look genuine, I worked at getting closer to the character. I think that I am similar to Tae Yong. He is free-spirited, not constrained by societal norms and has a broad vision. I myself, this is what I am always seeking. In forming my character, I referred to ‘Final Fantasy X’. It’s a game that I liked when I was living in America and the story has a slight similarity with this drama.
The habit that Lee Gak has, of putting his hands behind his back, it was not an instruction from the director, but I thought “A prince would do this” and I did it. This is also a posture that I often have in my ordinary life. (laughs)
This drama has elements like comedy, love and mystery neatly depicted and is really wonderful. You will definitely not be bored!”

Celebrating Yuchun’s Acting Journey and the Glory of 16 Awards (1)
30 Aug 2010, the first episode of Yuchun’s first drama “Sunkyungkwan Scandal” was aired. From then until the current “Missing You”, Yuchun has played the main role in 4 dramas (2 Mon-Tue dramas, 2 Wed-Thur dramas).
In these 2 and a half years, he has forged his own path in the drama world with his blood, sweat and tears. Several times, the filming of his dramas clashed with JYJ concerts or activities and it was a superhuman feat to juggle dance practice, song practice, drama filming and the actual concert tour. There is already so little time to rest during a shoot. Can you imagine having to rehearse for a concert during the rest times?
Most of us would also know that his beloved father passed away at the start of the filming of Rooftop Prince, when Yuchun was on a flight returning to Korea after a JYJ concert in South America. He was grief-stricken but he went back to the set of Rooftop Prince the day after the funeral, much earlier than people expected him to. Knowing how tight filming schedules are, he probably did not want everyone to be held back because of him.
Yuchun did it, and did it unbelievably well. 16 awards in less than 2 and a half years are a testimony to his indefatigable spirit, extraordinary determination, positivity, hard work and talent. And the best part about it is that Yuchun remains a humble, sincere and loving person. That is why we love him so much. He will never glorify himself, so we will have to do that for him.^^
